He loved it so much he is coming back for seconds and supporting a mate riding the Giant Minaret Burn MTB for the very first time.
Craig Isbister lives in Oamaru and last year headed to Wanaka to ride the remote high country MTB on one of the hottest days of the year.
” It was super hot – a real scorcher but I had a good ride and enjoyed the whole experience,” says Craig.
Having recently got into mountain biking, the Giant Minaret Burn MTB was an excellent choice for an event out of his comfort zone.
” I only started mountain biking in the last two years. I played a lot of team sports like rugby and hockey at school but now its about finding something thats a bit easier on my knees!”
“Mountain biking is super enjoyable, getting out and about and seeing more of the countryside.I am not super competitive but there is a lot of satisfaction in finishing something you start and there is still bit of a racing streak in me.”
Craig will be riding alongside his next door neighbour at the event come January 2019.
” He entered last year but then had to pull out due to injury so it will be good to tag team with him and provide some encouragement. It’s always easier when there is a bit of banter out there to keep you going.”
Having entered in the last few days of June, Craig was chosen as the winner of an epic prize pack from Giant Bicycles New Zealand and will be riding away in style.
The prize includes a Giant Traverse T-shirt, pair of Giant Elevate Socks,Giant Control Mini combo pump, Giant Airway composite Sidepull cage and Giant custom bottle.
Entries are open for the Giant Minaret Burn MTB single stage event with early bird prices until the 1st September.
